Actress and businesswoman

Katrina Kaif is a British actress and businesswoman who works in Hindi films and is one of India's highest-paid actresses. She was born in British Hong Kong and lived in several countries before London. She modelled from her teens, and at a London fashion show the filmmaker Kaizad Gustad cast her in Boom (2003).

Boom failed, and at first her limited Hindi made film roles hard to get. After the Telugu film Malliswari (2004), she had hits with Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (2005) and Namastey London (2007). New York (2009) and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011) won her Filmfare Best Actress nominations. Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Raajneeti and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara also added to her career. Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Dhoom 3 (2013) and Bang Bang! (2014) were among the biggest hits of the decade.

Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), Bharat (2019), Sooryavanshi (2021) and Tiger 3 (2023) were also hits. Zero (2018) won her the Zee Cine Award for Best Supporting Actress, and Merry Christmas (2024) was well received. She launched the cosmetics line Kay Beauty in 2019. Her mother, Suzanne, is an English lawyer and charity worker who moved the family through Hong Kong, China, Japan, France, Switzerland, Poland, Belgium and Hawaii before London. Kaif and her siblings were taught at home by tutors. She supports her mother's charity, Relief Projects India, which helps underprivileged children.
