Ramayana opens at ₹64.85 crore, Shah Rukh Khan wants more with Atlee, and Adam Driver locks Heat 2
Day-one India numbers for Ramayana: Part One, Shah Rukh Khan’s X reply to Atlee, court orders for Kriti Sanon and Ananya Panday against AI deepfakes, authors leave Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi, Adam Driver on Heat 2 and Star Wars, Emmy Rossum joins RAINN, and Dar-e-Nijaat travel to Bangladesh.
Ramayana: Part One, with Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, opened worldwide on 5 November. Trade tracker Sacnilk, cited by The Times of India and Hindustan Times, put its India Day 1 collection at ₹64.85 crore net (₹77.50 crore gross across languages from about 25,200 shows). Hindi led, with the Kannada version contributing about ₹7.25 crore. The opening beat Pathaan and Animal on Day 1 but trailed Jawan, Dhurandhar 2 and Adipurush. These are early trade estimates, not studio-audited totals, and Diwali weekend walk-ins will matter more than the Thursday start.
Shah Rukh Khan answered a birthday wish from Jawan director Atlee on X (@iamsrk) with: “Thank you my Jawan captain. Missing the madness of our sets. Let’s create some more soon. Love you.” The Times of India reported the exchange; Atlee had also praised the King song Tu Mil Jaaye and said he was looking forward to seeing Khan back on the big screen. King, directed by Siddharth Anand, is dated for 24 December.
Two High Courts gave Hindi film actors interim protection against AI deepfakes on 5 November. The Delhi High Court, in a suit brought by Kriti Sanon, restrained websites, social media accounts and AI platforms from using her identity for sexually explicit deepfakes, impersonation, chatbots or unauthorised merchandise, and ordered takedowns of listed URLs, The Indian Express reported. The same day the Bombay High Court granted Ananya Panday interim relief against unauthorised commercial use and AI-driven manipulation of her name, image, voice and likeness, India Today reported. Both orders are interim.
Authors Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh ended their association with Salman Khan’s war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. In an X post on 5 November (@ShivAroor), Aroor wrote that the film “has moved beyond the account of the Galwan incident in our India’s Most Fearless that first brought us on board,” while wishing Khan, director Apoorva Lakhia and the team well, The Hollywood Reporter India reported. The film was originally tied to their book chapter on the 2020 Galwan clash.
In Hollywood, Adam Driver confirmed on The Rich Eisen Show that he will play Otis Wardell, the principal antagonist in Michael Mann’s Heat 2, calling the script “a missile.” He said Mann was back at work the day after last weekend’s superficial gun-range injury and that his December start was already planned, The Playlist reported. Separately he told Eisen that a return as Kylo Ren is over after Disney rejected The Hunt for Ben Solo: “No more Star Wars… I think the ship has sailed,” The Hollywood Reporter reported.
Emmy Rossum has been named an ambassador for RAINN, the US anti-sexual violence organisation, in a partnership focused on storytelling about survivorship. The Hollywood Reporter said the Furious star will work with the nonprofit to challenge stigma and encourage careful portrayals of sexual violence on screen; RAINN had earlier consulted on the Hulu series.
In Pakistan, Sheheryar Munawar shared Instagram Stories after Bangladeshi coverage of Dar-e-Nijaat praised his character Abu Bakar, including a Bengali headline that Dhaka audiences were captivated by the role, 24 News reported. The Umera Ahmed serial also stars Dur-e-Fishan Saleem and Nameer Khan.
