Madhuri Dixit

Actress and television personality

Madhuri Dixit is an actress and television personality from Mumbai. In more than 70 Hindi films she became a star big enough to shape Indian popular culture. Critics credit her with carrying star vehicles on her own in a male-dominated industry, and she is admired as much for her dancing as for her acting. The Government of India awarded her the Padma Shri in 2008.

After her debut in Abodh (1984) and a few flops, Tezaab (1988) made her famous. Dil (1990), Beta (1992), Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994) and Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) each won her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Ram Lakhan, Tridev, Saajan, Khalnayak and Raja were also hits, and Parinda, Prem Pratigyaa, Anjaam, Mrityudand, Pukar and Lajja won critical praise. She won the Filmfare for Best Supporting Actress as Chandramukhi in Devdas (2002). In all she has six Filmfare Awards from a record 17 nominations.

Since her comeback in Aaja Nachle (2007) she has judged dance shows such as Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Dance Deewane, starred in Dedh Ishqiya (2014) and The Fame Game (2022), and had her biggest hits in Total Dhamaal (2019) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024). On this guide she plays Nisha in Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Chandramukhi in Devdas.
