Joon-sang, the quiet son of a famous musician, moves to the small city of Chuncheon and falls for his classmate Yoo-jin. Their first love is cut short by an accident. Ten years later Yoo-jin, now an interior designer engaged to her childhood friend, is assigned to work with an architect back from America who looks exactly like Joon-sang.

All-time blockbusters
It became a phenomenon in Japan when NHK aired it in 2004. The final episode there, on 23 August 2004, drew ratings of 20.6% in Kanto, 22.5% in Nagoya and 23.8% in Kansai, with the series averaging 14% to 15%. Demand was so strong that NHK re-aired it unedited, in Korean with subtitles, on its satellite channel. In the Philippines it was one of the highest-rated shows of 2003.
It is the second part of Yoon Seok-ho's four-season Endless Love series. Filming took place mainly on Namiseom island and in Seoul. It has since been adapted into an anime series and a stage musical, and Bae Yong-joon became one of the best-known Korean actors in Japan. It is credited with driving the second wave of the Korean Wave and extending it to Japan and the Philippines. It sold 330,000 DVDs and 1.2 million copies of its novelisations, and it is said to have generated more than US$27 billion when its boost to tourism is included.
