Stree 2

All-time blockbusters

Why it was a blockbuster

It grossed over ₹875 crore worldwide, the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024 and the third highest-grossing Indian film of that year. Its ₹9.40 crore from paid previews was the highest ever for a Hindi film at the time.

Amar Kaushik directed it from a script by Niren Bhatt, for Maddock Films and Jio Studios. It is the fourth film in the Maddock horror-comedy universe, with Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana as friends facing a headless entity called Sarkata. It was released on 15 August 2024, and its trailer drew over 10 million views in its first 24 hours. Filming began in July 2023, mainly in Chanderi and Bihar, and ended by mid-2024. Sachin–Jigar composed the songs and Justin Varghese the score. It ranks as the seventh highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. Its friends must defeat Sarkata, a headless entity abducting the women of Chanderi. Raj & DK, who wrote the first film, left after a rights dispute with producer Dinesh Vijan but are still credited for the characters; Hemanti Sarkar returned as editor and Jishnu Bhattacharjee became cinematographer.
