A social serial, made with the Kashf Foundation, about rural poverty, the pressure on women, and child sexual abuse. It is serious television, not a romance with a sermon attached. Farhat Ishtiaq writes. Watch with care if that subject is close to home.
It ran from 10 April 2016 to 4 September 2016.
Content note: child sexual abuse is part of the plot. This page does not retell those scenes.
The story
Udaari is about a child-abuse case and about the mother and the neighbour who refuse the usual silence. It was controversial when it aired because it said, on a prime-time channel, what families are trained not to say.
Urwa Hocane is one of the leads. HUM aired it. It is on the all-time list for that subject, handled as a story rather than as a lecture.
