Sana Murad is young, ambitious and broke. Her father died early, and her younger brother Jibran needs heart surgery the family cannot pay for. She fails a job interview because she has no experience, then meets the company chairman by chance and lands a job in his office, where she cannot type or take dictation, to the despair of her boss, Taimoor.

There is no audited ratings figure from 1982. Ankahi is described as one of the most popular drama serials in Pakistan in the early 1980s, and it was popular in India too. Its witty dialogue and Shehnaz Sheikh's candid Sana are what people remember. Its pull lasted: PTV Home re-ran it daily from 18 April to 2 May 2020.
It was written by Haseena Moin and directed by Shoaib Mansoor, later the maker of Alpha Bravo Charlie and the film Khuda Kay Liye, with Mohsin Ali. The cast largely moved on together to Tanhaiyaan in 1986. Javed Sheikh, who plays Faraz, has his own profile on this guide. Much of its comedy comes from Sana's chaos in Taimoor's office, where she can neither type nor take dictation. Her friend Sara, played by Misbah Khalid, is the rich girl Sana wants to become. The serial balances that office comedy with the pressure of Jibran's illness, which is why Sana needs the job in the first place.
